6. SISTER DORIS COFFEY COMMENTS ON THE MINISTRY OF THE REVEREND CECIL (CHIP) MURRAY THAT WAS THE FOCUS OF THE RECENT LOS ANGELES TIMES ARTICLE:

What a heartwarming article about the Reverend Dr. Chip Murray. I had the privilege of being introduced to him at the 1996 General Conference in Louisville, Kentucky by the Reverend Dr. Robert E. Keesee. I was both impressed and grateful for the opportunity to meet him, having read and heard so much about him.

In cases like this, given his record of service, it is somewhat disheartening and sad that we have to adhere to the retirement laws of the church, but at the same time it is heartwarming that he "took no money for himself" ( had integrity), that he was at the church Monday-Saturday 7:00 a.m. - 7 or 8:00 p.m., preached two of the three Sunday Sermons (was committed) and still found time to be about his Father's business (loyal to his calling) in the community activities. What a role model - What shoes to fill?

For the sake of the AME Church, it is my prayer and hope that whomever the Rt. Reverend Bishop John R. Bryant, through his godly wisdom chooses to send to FAME, that he or she will have the same level of integrity, commitment and loyalty exemplified by Dr. Murray.

Best Wishes and Godspeed to the Reverend Dr. Chip Murray.

Doris J. Coffey - Kentucky Annual Conference.
